Special for the 50th Anniversary of the Peace Corps – Coming Soon!
Honor the 50th Anniversary of the Peace Corps with Peace Corps Voices
Fifty years ago, President John F. Kennedy issued a stirring call to college students to become volunteers in developing countries around the world. This speech led to the creation of the Peace Corps, which, a half-century later, is still inspiring Americans to serve.
From September 22nd through September 25th, the National Peace Corps Association will host a 50th Anniversary Celebration in Washington D.C. To honor the anniversary and in time to coincide with those celebrations, we offer Peace Corps Voices from independent producer Amy Mayer. This one-hour radio documentary features stories from generations of volunteers. Their original recordings are interspersed with recent interviews.
Listeners will hear excerpts from President Kennedy’s send-off speech to the first volunteers, plus stories and music from a cross section of volunteers who served in a dozen different countries. AVAILABLE August 26th
