Science radio is no longer dull!

Science radio doesn’t have to be dull!

A one-hour weekly magazine
The only dry thing about the program is the humor.

If your listeners delight in the wonders of scientific discovery, and are curious about where innovation is headed, you’ll want to add Big Picture Science to your schedule.

Host and Producer Seth Shostak & Co-Host and Executive Producer Molly Bentley

Big Picture Science examines life and technology on this planet… and beyond, in surprising and humorous ways. Host and Producer Seth Shostak and Co-Host and Executive Producer Molly Bentley make the fast-paced one-hour magazine style program entertaining and informative, and prove that science radio can be fun. (Maybe even more fun than cars!)

What came before the Big Bang?
How does memory work?
Will our descendants be human or machine?
What’s the origin of humor?

Big Picture Science ponders these questions daily… and expounds on them weekly.
Plus, one episode a month, Skeptic Check, is devoted to critical thinking where science is seperated from pseudoscience – and facts from the phony. Whether it’s astrology, Bigfoot, or just the incessant onslaught of dubious medical claims, Big Picture Science takes it all on, wielding the skeptical tools of solid science.

SEE A Doll House, Live in Los Angeles!

Starring; Calista Flockhart, Tim DeKay, Gregory Itzin and JoBeth Williams.
Nora Helmer has everything a young housewife could want: beautiful children, an adoring husband, a bright future. But when a carelessly buried secret rises from the past, Nora’s well-calibrated domestic ideal starts to crumble. Ibsen’s masterpiece is as fresh today as it was when it first stormed the stages of 19th-century Europe. Featuring: Calista Flockhart and JoBeth Williams Please Note: Although popularly known as “The Doll’s House”, translator Rolf Fjelde felt that the non-possessive use of “doll” was more in-line with Ibsen’s original intention for the title.

What is Record Bin Roulette?

Every week, Record Bin Roulette’s producer/hosts John Kessler and John Maynard put a unique “spin” on a century’s worth of discarded vinyl. Kessler and Maynard are heroes of cultural preservation, having devoted their young lives to exploring and honoring the creative output of the once proud megabillion-dollar recording industry, and then sharing what they find.

How do they do it?

Kessler and Maynard comb the flea markets, troll the thrift shops, camp out at the choice three-car garage sales, wheedle their way into friends’ musty basements, and just generally make a nuisance of themselves wherever old LPs, 45s and 78s are found.  Then, they grab a random pile of discs and try to come up with a pithy, enlightening, illuminating or entertaining (to them, anyway) theme around which to build the weekly episode of Record Bin Roulette.

Schedule + Listen = HAPPY AUDIENCE

The results are heard each week on flagship station KPLU-FM in the Seattle area, on the web, and via growing network of Record Bin Roulette Affiliated Stations in the US and abroad.
