Janelle Haskell wins a 2010 Gracie Award

Janelle Haskell, Producer of AARP’s Prime Time Radio, has won a 2010 Gracie Award for Outstanding Producer – Entertainment.

The Gracie Awards celebrate and honor programming created for women, by women, and about women, as well as individuals who have made exemplary contributions in electronic media and affiliates. Presented annually, the Gracie Awards recognize national, local and student works.

The 2010 Gracies Awards Celebration will be held on May 25-26, 2010 in Los Angeles.  The Gracie Awards ceremony is presented by the American Women in Radio and Television.

Prisons In Crisis has just won three awards!

prison-cardPRISONS IN CRISIS: A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN CALIFORNIA a searing documentary about California’s penal system. Probing the roots of the crisis while examining tentative solutions from Polk Award winner, JoAnn Mar has won three awards–the PASS award from the National Council on Crime and Delinquency, a finalist award for Excellence in Electronic Media/Radio from Scripps-Howard, and 3rd Place in Documentary or Public Affairs from the National Headliner Awards.

This program was produced for broadcast on non-commercial and public radio stations in California and around the country. It describes the dire state of California’s prison system, how the crisis evolved over a 25 year period, and solutions for addressing the crisis.
